Millennials Face Off in Dallas, Texas Outside NRA Meeting

On May 5, 2018, hundreds of students from around the country met just a few blocks from the massive annual conference of the National Rifle Association in Dallas, Texas. This large, passionate group of Millennials faced off against a smaller group of gun supporters, many of whom chose to carry their unloaded weapons. While the two groups definitely have different opinions on various issues, they did agree on one thing: the need for strong universal background checks.

The group that supports stricter gun relations included parents of shooting victims killed in the Parkland and 2012 Aurora theater shootings. Many of these parents chose to speak and share their experiences. Manuel Oliver, an artist and the father of Parkland shooting victim Joaquin Oliver, extended an invitation to President Donald Trump to come to his home and spend a few minutes in his son’s empty bedroom

“It takes on second, ‘Joaquin Oliver,’ and you’re not able to mention that name,” Oliver said when he addressed the president during his speech. “And it is important, your support, because you could make things happen along with us. Let me rephrase that: You could make it happen faster because we are going to make it happen.”

According to NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch, over 87,000 members of the NRA and supporters attended the conference. Just outside the city hall, a small group stood just 50 yards away from the rally in counter-protest. 13-year-old Nicole Defosse and her 16-year-old sister Emily stood with their family. They each held unloaded AR 15s and stood under flags that read “Come and take it” and “Open carry Texas.”

Of all the things being said about gun control and the second amendment, the majority of those who participated in the rally agreed that they wanted the NRA to at least hear this: universal background checks. According to a Quinnipiac poll from February, 97 percent of Americans support universal background checks.

A 23-year-old law student at Southern Methodist University explained, “The whole reason that we’re for the universal background checks is because the vast majority of the American public support it.”

The ever-growing attention to gun control has made many banks hesitant to work with firearm businesses. As a result, merchants are really struggling to find the merchant services they need to operate smoothly and safely. Many have found the services they need through online firearm merchant accounts. Americans and firearm businesses anxiously wait to see what the next move will be regarding the background check system and other key gun control issues.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome End Of Year Service

Just in case you missed Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s last service of 2017 here’s a brief recap of the spiritual event.

The service got under way with a beautiful song offered up in devotion to the Lord.

Another glorious song praising God ushered in Pastor Chris. The crowd took awhile to settle down in their excitement and wonderment at seeing this shepherd of the Lord.

Review of a prosperous year

The initial hosts of the evening pointed out that it has been a prosperous year for all, glory be to God. The ministry has thrived. Abundant growth, weighty acquirements, and enduring productiveness were experienced month after month. The total number of texts of Rhapsody of Realities was brought up to more than 1.3 billion copies in more than 900 languages, distributed worldwide. Using the book as a means to spread His word, this was indeed a momentous accomplishment for both the Glory of Christ and the church itself.

These hosts also spoke about spreading the word of the Lord through radio, TV, and all throughout the internet. There was also talk of the spreading of the Loveworld networks and influence, particularly Loveworld USA.

Furthermore, the prodigious results of the ministry was discussed. The Inner-City Mission touched the lives of many children. The Healing School brought both optimism and recovery to thousands in need. The International School of Ministry trained thousands of ministers.

The year has been filled with great achievements for everyone.

Exhilaration filled the air

Witnessing the presence and glory of Pastor Chris creating the contact to God accessible once more, brought much joy and excitement to those who were able to participate that night.

Perhaps the most amazing part of observing this event was the fact that so many people had gathered in this one place, and watched this event live, not for a concert or a soccer match, but instead to listen to the word of the Lord. This swells my heart with hope and glory that Christ will triumph in the souls of sinners.

Following a short introduction the the evening the Believer’s Loveworld Incorporation anthem was gracefully sung.

Future African Leaders Awards winners

The next inspiring moment was when the FALA were handed out to honor the young leaders making a difference in their communities. This year’s star prize winner, Naomi Ekpoki Aliyu, was so overcome by receiving this illustrious award and by being in the presence of the servant of the Lord that she fell upon her knees and couldn’t control her jubilation. It was indeed a memorable occasion when all those winners fell to the floor from the glory of Jesus Christ by way of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
